This page explains how to delete your account and data in the Meydan app (Android app and the https://app.meydanly.com web app), what is deleted, and what is kept and for how long.

1. Deleting your account in the app

  1. Open the Meydan app and tap the Me tab in the bottom bar.
  2. Tap the Settings icon at the top right.
  3. Tap Delete account at the bottom.
  4. Enter your password (accounts created with Google/Apple or a phone number are not asked for one), optionally tell us why, and confirm with Delete my account.

Deletion happens immediately and signs you out on all devices. It cannot be undone.

2. Deleting your account on the web

Sign in at https://app.meydanly.com → profile menu at the top right → Settings → Delete account.

3. If you can't access the app

If you can't sign in (lost device, forgotten password, etc.), send an email with the subject "Account deletion request" to support@meydanly.com from the email address registered to your account, stating your username or registered phone number. After verifying your identity through the email address or phone number on the account, we delete the account within 30 days and confirm to you.

4. What happens when the account is deleted?

Data that is deleted

  • Your profile photos, cover photo, voice intro and every media file you uploaded (posts, stories, message attachments, store and product images).
  • Your posts, comments, likes and stories, including comments you left on other people's posts.
  • Your location, discovery preferences, interests and languages.
  • Your friendships and friend requests, profile visits and boosts.
  • Your sessions, device records, push tokens, two-step verification keys and backup codes, Google/Apple links (the Apple sign-in token is revoked).
  • Your profession verification documents, selfie verification images and face data (even if face similarity was enabled).
  • Your meeting safety records (trusted contact, "Are you safe?" check-ins and their locations).
  • Content excerpts in your moderation history and your trust score log.

Data that is anonymised

  • Your account record is not deleted but anonymised: your name, username, email, phone number, password and bio are removed and the record is renamed "Deleted user". Date of birth, gender and country remain in this record only for anonymous statistics; no contact detail that could identify you is kept.
  • Messages you sent to others remain in the other person's chat under the name "Deleted user" (it is their own conversation history); photos and voice files in those messages are deleted.
  • Your participation in live rooms, plans, communities, games and coaching remains under an anonymous identity; open rooms you own are closed, your open plans are cancelled, your stores are closed and community ownership is transferred to the most senior admin.
  • Follow and block records remain under the anonymous identity (people you blocked stay blocked).

Data kept for legal reasons

  • Access and transaction logs (sign-in time, IP address and similar traffic data) for 2 years under Turkish Law No. 5651.
  • Subscription, payment and invoice records for 10 years under tax and commercial law (card details are never stored).
  • Reports made about you, sanctions applied and audit trail entries; evidence packages related to child safety reports for 2 years (in a separate, access-restricted record).
  • Digital fingerprints of rejected images (not the images themselves; to prevent re-upload of the same image).
  • The device identifier in invitation records, to prevent abuse of the invitation system.

These records are deleted automatically when their retention period ends.

5. Deleting data without deleting the account

You can delete part of your data while keeping your account:

  • Photos, posts, stories, comments: open the item's menu and choose Delete.
  • Messages: long-press a message in the chat and choose Delete; use Delete conversation in the chat menu for the whole conversation.
  • Location: Settings → Privacy → Location sharing: Off (your stored location is deleted).
  • Health / step data: Fitness → disconnect; revoke Health Connect permissions in your phone settings.
  • Voice intro, cover photo, bio: remove them from the Edit profile screen.
  • Other requests (e.g. deleting a specific record, a copy of your data): Settings → Download my data, or email support@meydanly.com. We answer data protection requests within 30 days.
